Casserole Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Any type of potatoes can be used.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken soup.
  • 1/2 cup milk Add more for creaminess.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish For presentation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent.

Layering

  • In a large baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, then add half of the soup and milk mixture.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and soup. Top with shredded cheese.

Baking

  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

Serve directly from the baking dish for a rustic feel. Perfect with a simple green salad or steamed veggies.
