Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.75 cups All-Purpose Flour Sift to avoid lumps.
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar Coconut sugar can be used as a healthier option.
  • 0.75 cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Dutch process cocoa can provide a sweeter taste.
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Almond or oat milk can be used as alternatives.
  • 0.5 cups Vegetable Oil Can substitute with melted coconut oil.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Boiling Water

Ganache Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream For a lighter option, use half-and-half.
  • 8 ounces Chopped Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Optional Finishing Ingredients

  • Decorative Chocolate for the Nest Melt and mold into a nest shape.
  • Mini Easter Eggs For decoration, place in the chocolate nest.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cake pan and dust it lightly with flour.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until thoroughly mixed.
  • Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until the batter is smooth.
  • Carefully stir in boiling water.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Making Ganache

  • Heat heavy cream until just simmering, then remove from heat and add chopped chocolate. Let it sit for a few minutes, then whisk until smooth.

Decoration

  • Once the cake is cool, pour ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides. Create a nest with decorative chocolate and fill it with mini Easter eggs.

Notes

Enhance chocolate flavor by adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter. Consider serving with fresh strawberries or raspberries for freshness.
