Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (discard)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the sourdough starter, softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow them to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of espresso powder to the dough. Customize with nuts or dried fruits for added texture. Serve slightly warm for gooey chocolate experience or let cool for a crunchier bite.
