French Dip Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread Preferably fresh
  • 8 oz Roast beef Thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese For melting
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For grilling

For Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

For Dipping

  • 2 cups Beef broth Warmed for dipping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1-2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

Grilling

  • Place one slice, seasoned side down, in the heated skillet and layer with roast beef and Swiss cheese.
  • Top with another slice of sourdough, seasoned side up.
  • Grill the sandwich until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes per side, pressing down gently to melt the cheese.
  • While grilling, warm the beef broth in a separate pot over low heat.

Serving

  • Serve the grilled cheese sliced in half with the warm beef broth for dipping.

Notes

Add sautéed onions or peppers for extra flavor. You can customize the cheese or serve with pickles or coleslaw for added crunch.
