  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup French-fried onions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the French onion soup mix, rice, and beef broth. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  • Remove from heat and mix in sour cream and half of the cheese.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese and French-fried onions.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like parsley or incorporating vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms. Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal.
