  • 1 lb Italian sausage Remove casing and crumble to cook.

Aromatics

  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes (chopped) Rinse to remove excess oil.

Liquids and Dairy

  • 1 cup chicken broth Can substitute with vegetable broth.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Watch carefully to prevent boiling.

Seasonings

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional) For added heat.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing the sausage.

Garnish

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

Cooking the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Sautéing the Sausage

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Adding Aromatics

  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Incorporating Sun-Dried Tomatoes

  • Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and allow them to soften for about 2 minutes.

Creating the Sauce

  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Add the heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Let the sauce bubble gently for about 5 minutes, thickening slightly.

Combining with Pasta

  • Add the drained pasta back into the skillet, tossing to combine with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Serving

  • Plate the pasta, sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese, and add fresh basil on top before serving.

Notes

For flavor enhancement, consider adding a splash of lemon juice before serving. Customize by including your favorite vegetables.
