Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 rolls Hawaiian rolls Sweet and soft rolls, ideal for mini sandwiches.
  • 8 slices cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Choose a favorite variety; sharp cheddar or creamy mozzarella work well.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Essential for a golden crust; can substitute with olive oil.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Mix into butter for added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (oregano or basil) Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 cup sautéed onions or fresh basil Optional for adding freshness.
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese Sprinkle on the outside for extra crunch.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients together to make the process seamless. Slice the cheese and ready the rolls for filling.

Assembly

  • Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of each Hawaiian roll.
  • Place cheese slices inside each roll and sprinkle with garlic powder or herbs, if desired.

Cooking

  • Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolls seam side down in the pan.
  • Cook the rolls for about 3-4 minutes until the sides are golden and the cheese starts to melt.
  • Carefully flip the rolls using a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes, adding more butter if necessary.
  • Check for doneness; the rolls should be golden and the cheese melted.

Serving

  • Slice the rolls for easy handling and serve while warm.
