  • 1 lb Smoky sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup Rice Uncooked
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 1 medium Bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Cooking Steps

  • In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until they become soft.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Add sliced sausage to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes until browned.
  • Stir in uncooked rice, making sure it gets coated with the flavors in the pan.
  • Pour in chicken or vegetable broth and barbecue sauce, stirring well to combine.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
  • Once cooked, stir to fluff the rice and mix everything well before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Freeze in portioned containers for up to 3 months. Can be reheated on the stove or microwave.
