Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-Purpose Flour Sift before measuring to avoid clumps. Gluten-free blend can be used.
  • 1.5 cups Granulated Sugar Mix with dry ingredients for even distribution.
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil Melted coconut oil can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Should be at room temperature for best results.
  • 2 large Eggs Use room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 tbsp Red Food Coloring Natural beet juice can be used as an alternative.
  • 0.5 cups Cocoa Powder Sift with dry ingredients. Avoid sweetened cocoa.
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda Ensure freshness for optimal rise.
  • 0.5 tsp Salt Enhances flavors of the cake.

For the Cheesecake Layer

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Must be softened for mixing without lumps.
  • 0.5 cups Powdered Sugar Sift to avoid clumps in the mixture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and red food coloring until smooth.
  • Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan.
  • Add dollops of the cheesecake mixture on top, then pour the remaining cake batter over it.
  • Use a knife to gently swirl together the batters.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before removing.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.

Serving

  • Cut into slices and serve with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
  • Pair with fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

You can enhance flavor by adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture. This cake can be frozen for up to 3 months.
