  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Wet ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Filling

  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.

Mixing

  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Fold in the diced apples gently.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan.
  • Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
